Discover the Joy of Jewish Learning at SCHS!
The Syracuse Community Hebrew School (SCHS) offers a high-energy, inclusive program for students in grades 3–7 where learning is rigorous, hands-on, and deeply meaningful. Our students develop a strong Jewish identity and a deep sense of community through interactive, T’filah-based Hebrew education, including five clergy-led T’filah experiences, engaging lessons, and participatory projects.
At SCHS, students:
Study in small chevrutah-style groups led by teen leaders, building skills in critical thinking, text analysis, and collaborative learning.
Explore Jewish values and traditions through multigenerational experiences and hands-on projects.
Connect learning to real life by creating and leading projects that make Jewish life vibrant and meaningful.
Our unique program unites three synagogues and the wider Jewish community, offering opportunities to celebrate holidays, share Shabbat dinners, and participate in special community events together.
Your child will leave SCHS with a well-rounded, academically strong Jewish education, a deep sense of Jewish pride, meaningful connections to Israel and the Jewish people, and the skills to actively participate in synagogue life, Jewish practice at home, and the broader Jewish community.
Supported by Congregation Beth Sholom-Chevra Shas, Temple Concord, and Temple Adath Yeshurun, with generous grants from Syracuse Jewish Federation and the Pomerantz, Shankman & Martin Charitable Foundation.
